Motivation

I recently read that coding — reading it, at least — utilizes the language center of the brain. If reading and understanding programming languages activates the same part of the brain as social languages, then I extrapolate that critical thinking while writing, regardless of language, would be similarly linked whether writing to reflect about the world or writing a recursive algorithm.

As a remote-working contractor, much of my week consists of following up to client emails and messages, so I find it easy to communicate my thoughts on the myriad suddenly-urgent tasks of the moment. Writing has always come naturally to me, yet I’ve long struggled to write just for the sake of writing.

My hope is that by starting and actively maintaining a blog, taking the effort to document the high points in life alongside the frustrating parts, I can help stimulate inspiration and motivation in every part of my life. As someone who frequently toggles between chaotic, manic energy and unfocused listlessness, this is somewhere new for me to direct my energy or lack thereof.
